Garth Brooks coming to Tampa

We've got some great news for Garth Brooks fans: The country music superstar has announced that his comeback tour is coming back to Tampa for the first time in more than 16 years.

Currently announced for two shows at Amalie Arena -- one each on June 5 and 6 -- Brooks has been known to expand the number of shows in a given city depending on demand.

"It's going to be an event," Elmer Straub, the arena's vice president of event booking, told the Tampa Bay Times. "This is the first time he's played here in over 16 years, and it's the only show in Florida. There's no Orlando play; there's no South Florida play. So we should be drawing from the whole state, which is pretty incredible."

Looks like fans outside of the Tampa Bay area should start planning their trips. Walk to the arena from a number of downtown hotels, including Embassy Suites Tampa Downtown, Tampa Marriott Waterside, Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk Hotel and Aloft Tampa Downtown.

Tickets go on sale on April 10 at 10 a.m.
